Chevy LS376-480 HP - LS3 Generation IVWith 480 horsepower at your foot, the LS376 - 480 HP engine is a small block animal. You have to admit that 480 horsepower in anything is a lot of fun! This crate motor is basically a high revving LS3 with better flowing rectangular port cylinder heads. The new cam is one of the underlying secrets that makes the LS376/480 belt out even more power than a standard LS3. This engine is based on the LS3, so you get much of the reliable and performance oriented LS3 block and internals. The bottom end includes a 6-bolt aluminum block, nodular crank, high performance rods and 10.7:1 compression pistons. Heads, as mentioned, are high-flowing rectangular-port design pieces that are similar to LS7 heads. 1.7:1 roller rockers work with the upgraded camshaft. A new cam brings this engine alive, to the tune of an extra 50 horsepower over a stock LS3 cam. GMPP used the LS Hot Cam (p/n 12617570) for this task. With a massive .525-inch intake and exhaust valve lift and duration (@ .050 inches) of 219 degrees intake and 228 degrees exhaust, it's no wonder you see a 50 HP gain. Surprisingly, the camshaft is still very streetable, even with those numbers. *Applications have not been validated.
